Course Description

Well known data compression techniques are evaluated.  For this, starting from introduction to information theory, the subjects of entopy coding, variable length coding, Huffman, Shannon-Fano, Arithmetic, Ziv-Lempel coding, RLE, transform coding, image transforms used in compression, JPEG, MPEG and vector quantization are detailed and analyzed..
